Dauphin Lake

BW

The lake Dauphin Lake was named in 1739 by François de La Vérendrye after the French throne.

It is located in western Manitoba in Canada near the town of Dauphin. The lake has an area of 519 km ². It has a catchment area of 8400 km ² and is drained by the Mossy River, 20 km northern Lake Winnipegosis out.

We have made several attempts in the last century to regulate the water level of the lake. 1964 was built near provider 's Landing at the outlet of the lake of Mossey River Dam. The water level in the summer months is 260.54 m. The dam, during periods of drought and low water levels restrict the drain. However, at high water levels eliminates the regulatory function and the discharge capacity of the river takes control. The lake offers many recreational opportunities. Fishing is popular all year round. There are camping facilities along the lake shore and a number of cottages.
