Dave Mitchell (footballer)

David Stuart Mitchell ( born June 13, 1962 in Glasgow ) is a former Australian football player.

Life

Shortly after Mitchell's birth in Scotland his parents moved to Australia. He grew up in Adelaide.

Career

Association

Mitchell start his career as a football player in the Australian club Adelaide City; where he played until 1983. then he moved to his native town to the Glasgow Rangers in Scotland. In 1985 he moved to Germany for Eintracht Frankfurt. With the harmony Mitchell stood at the end of the season twice in a row in 15th place in his first season he was only three inserts. In the second season, he was part of the permanent staff and was in 32 league games in action, in which he scored five goals. From the harmony it took Mitchell further in the Netherlands to Feyenoord in the Eredivisie, the Dutch first division. After two years at Feyenoord was drawn Mitchell on. For the season 1990/91 he moved to England's capital to Chelsea London, then to Newcastle United. After three years in England and a further station at Swindon Town 1993, he fled for a short time to Altay Izmir in Turkey. Already the new season he hired at FC Millwall and played two more years in England. After a brief stint in Malaysia at the Selangor FA, he returned to Australia and played at Sydney Olympic and Sydney United. In both positions, he worked as a player-coach.

National

For the Australian national team, he played 44 times and scored 13 goals. With the team, he participated in the Summer Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 and finished 5th.

  • On November 8, 1986 Mitchell scored 20 seconds after coming off the bench for the match against Eintracht Frankfurt team FC Homburg the final score at 1-1, this was the fastest goal to get there after Substitutes a player in Bundesliga history. On January 28, 2012 after coming off the bench Stephan Hain scored a game against 1 FC Kaiserslautern also twenty seconds a goal.
