David D. Balam

David D. Balam is a Canadian astronomer and discoverer of asteroids.

He works as a research assistant at the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Victoria in British Columbia.

Between 1987 and 2007 he discovered 37 asteroids, one of which, together with his colleagues PB Stetson.

In addition, he discovered along with Gin Zhu on 3 June 1997 the comet C/1997 L1 ( Zhu - Balam ).

The asteroid ( 3749 ) Balam was named after him.
