David Denicke
David Denicke (* January 30, 1603 in Zittau, † April 1, 1680 in Hannover ) was a German lawyer and hymn writer.
Life
In Wittenberg and Jena Denicke studied law and philosophy. In Konigsberg, he was a lecturer. He traveled in the years 1625-1628 to Holland, England and France. In 1629 he became tutor of the sons of Duke George (Braunschweig -Calenberg ) in Herzberg ( resin). Abbot of the pin Bursfeld he was in 1639, Privy Councillor in 1640 and two years later consistory in Hanover. Justus Gesenius published in 1646 along with David Denicke a hymnal, which was intended for private devotion, emerged from the later Hanoverian song book (published 1659). Even today, some songs from the Hannover Hymns are sung.
