David Gaider

David Gaider ( born October 25, 1971 in Edmonton ) is a Canadian computer game designer and author. Since 1999 he works for the Canadian developer BioWare.

Career

Prior to joining the computer games industry Gaider worked in the service sector, mainly for restaurants and hotels. In his spare time, he worked on a play-by- email role-playing game, for which he also wrote a rule book and had it printed. When the Canadian developer BioWare was looking for additional staff in 1999, he was recommended by a friend employed there and invited for an interview. A resulting vacancy declined Gaider, who works at this time as a manager of a hotel, first still from. When his employers, however, taken a short time later and Gaider was released, he finally settled but undertake as a game designer.

His first title for Bioware was the continuation of the AD & D computer role-playing game Baldur 's Gate, for which he wrote dialogues, play areas designed and scripting tasks took over. After the completion of Neverwinter Nights and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, he was involved in the drafting of the Dragon Age game world and acted as Lead Writer for Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2, 2009, he published the book Dragon Age: the Stolen throne, the prehistory of the game Dragon Age: Origins and told to accompany the release of the game was released. Followed in 2010 with Dragon Age: Call of the Grey Wardens, a sequel to his first novel. Another novel in the Dragon Age universe was announced in December 2011.

As influences for his work as a game designer and author Gaider gave to the game designer Chris Avellone and Sid Meier, the filmmaker Joss Whedon and fantasy author George RR Martin.
