David Gray (footballer born 1988)

David Gray (born 4 May 1988 in Edinburgh) is a Scottish footballer who plays mainly in the midfield. He is currently at FC Stevenage in League One under contract.

Career

The in his youth at Heart of Midlothian playing midfielder joined at the age of 16 years for a training allowance of £ 50,000 pounds in the youth department of Manchester United. During the season 2005/2006 Gray played mainly in the reserve team of Manchester United. On 25 October 2006 Gray played his first pro game for Manchester in the League Cup against Crewe Alexandra. Although Gray played from the beginning, but was replaced in the second half for the victory goal scorers Kieran Lee. In January 2007, Gray was loaned to Royal Antwerp to get more match practice. After only two matches for Royal Antwerp, he was sidelined for the rest of the season due to injury. In November of the same year he was loaned out again - at Crewe Alexandra, where he played a game.

In early January 2009, he was awarded by the end of June of the same year at the Championship club Plymouth Argyle. Gray played 14 games for the Pilgrims, but could not generate any results. After the loan period expires in the summer of 2009 he returned back to Manchester, denied there not a league game for the Red Devils and was later awarded again to Plymouth.

Between 2010/ 11 and 2011/12 Gray played for Preston North End in the second-rate Football League Championship in England. For the 2012/13 season Gray free transfer to FC Stevenage.
