David Lean (athlete)

David Lean ( David Lean Francis, born August 22, 1935) is a former Australian hurdler and sprinter.

In the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in 1954 in Vancouver, he won gold in the 440 yards hurdles and bronze respectively in the 4 x 110 and 4 x 440 yards relay.

In 1956 he was at the Olympic Games in Melbourne in fifth in the 400 - meter hurdles. In the 4 x 400 meters relay he won with the Australian team in the cast Leon Gregory, Lean, Graham Gipson and Kevan Gosper the silver medal.

In the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in 1958 in Cardiff, he won silver over 440 yards hurdles.

In 1954 he became the national champion in the 440 yards hurdles.
