1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games

The British Empire and Commonwealth Games 1958, the sixth edition of that event, which is known as the Commonwealth Games today. They found from 18 to 26 July 1958 in the Welsh town of Cardiff instead.

Were wearing sports competitions in the bowls, boxing, fencing, weightlifting, athletics, cycling, wrestling, rowing, and swimming ( including diving). It was attended by 1122 athletes from 35 countries. Main competition venue was the Cardiff Arms Park. Was first carried out the Queen's Baton Relay, one of the Olympic Torch Relay modeled relay.

Strong criticism called because of the policy of apartheid forth the participation of South Africa. The country joined in 1961 from the Commonwealth of Nations and took again until 1994 at the Commonwealth Games in part.
