David Mazzucchelli

David Mazzucchelli ( born 1960 ) is an American comic book artist.

Life and work

Mazzucchelli began in the late 1970s to work as a professional cartoonist after the completion of Rhode Iceland School of Design.

After several smaller works Mazzucchelli began in the early 1980s for appearing in Marvel Comics Daredevil series to draw. Authors were the scripts for Mazzucchelli Daredevil in images summed especially Dennis O'Neil and Frank Miller.

His greatest artistic success finally celebrated Mazzucchelli 1986 as signatories to the written by Frank Miller Batman Year One story which was first published in Batman # 404-407 and has since been reprinted many times as anthology.

In self- publishing, he published together with Richmond Lewis, the three -part anthology Rubber Blanket. In collaboration with Paul Karasik Mazzucchelli provided the illustrations for Paul Auster's novel City of Glass was released in 1994. Since then, he has distinguished himself mainly by illustrated short stories: For example, with It's a beautiful day ... and A Brief History of Civilization (both appeared in Drawn & Quarterly, No. 9, May 1992 ), and The Fisherman and the Sea Princess ( published in Art Spiegelman's anthology Little Lit children: Folklore & Fairy Tale Funnies ).

Away from the comic industry Mazzucchelli has worked as an illustrator for several magazines including The New Yorker and as a lecturer at the School of Design Rhode Iceland and for the School of Visual Arts in New York City for whom he worked until today.
