David Simon, 3rd Viscount Simon

January David Simon, 3rd Viscount Simon ( born July 20, 1940) is a British peer and politician ( Labour ).

Life and career

January David Simon, was born on July 20, 1940 as the son of John Simon, 2nd Viscount Simon and inherited on December 5, 1993 the title of Viscount Simon. His seat in the House of Lords, he also holds the entry into force of the House of Lords Act 1999, as he was elected by the Erbadeligen. Since 1998 he has been Deputy Chairman of Committees. Since 1999 he has been Vice-Chairman (Speaker ) of the house.

He is the deputy chairman of the following groups:

  • Astronomy Group, since 2000,
  • Transportation Safety Group, since 2005,
  • European Secure Vehicle Alliance Group, since 2006,
  • Road Safety Group, since 2007

Since 1999 he is member of the Foundation Board of the Guild of Experienced Motorists, as well as the Road Safety Charity. A year later he became president of the Driving Instructors Association.

With Mary Elizabeth Burns, he has been married since 1969. Together they have a daughter.
