David Stevens, Baron Stevens of Ludgate

David Robert Stevens, Baron Stevens of Ludgate ( born May 26, 1936) is a British politician of the United Kingdom Independence Party ( UKIP ) and life peer in the British House of Lords.

Life and career

Stevens attended Stowe School and the Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge. In 1959, he was a trainee in management at Elliott Automation.

In Hill Samual Securities he was from 1959 to 1968 served as a director. His professional career continued from 1968 to 1974 in the Drayton Group continues also as a director. Two years after the end of the tenure there, he was Chairman ( Chairman ) of English & International. This office he held until 1979. Likewise in 1976, Stevens Chairman Drayton Far East ( to 1993 ) and the Alexander Proudfoot Holdings (until 1995 ). From 1979 to 1993 he was chairman of Consolidated venture. From 1980 to 1992 he was at the Drayton Consolidated. Stevens was chairman of the MIM Britannia Ltd, previously Montagu Investment Management Ltd from 1980 to 1993.

He began his work in 1974 as director of United Newspapers and in 1981 became the longtime chairman until 1999. From 1984 to 1986 he was Chairman of the Economic Development Committee for Civil Engineering, and from 1985 to 1999 at Express Newspapers. In INVESCO MIM, before Britannia Arrow Holdings, he was chairman from 1989 to 1993, and previously from 1987 to 1989 Deputy Chairman ( Deputy Chairman ). From 1980 to 1988, Stevens Chairman of Drayton Japan, and from 1989 to 1995 at Mid States.

In 1988 he founded the Helicopter Emergency Rescue Service and was until 1990 the Chairman and Director. He was also Chairman of Oak Industries from 1989 to 1996 and Premier Asset Management plc, and from 1998 to 2002 at PNC Tele.Com, courteous staff Number Co.

Membership in the House of Lords

Stevens was appointed Life peer as Baron Stevens of Ludgate, of Ludgate in the City of London on 27 March 1987. Its official launch took place on 31 March 1987 with the support of Geoffrey Russell, 4th Baron Ampthill and Edwin McAlpine, Baron McAlpine of Moffat. His inaugural address was delivered on 19 February 1988.

As subjects of political interest he calls on the website of the House of Lords, the European Union, as well as tax and other financial matters. As states of interest he calls France, Italy and the United States.

Until 2004 he was a member of the Conservative Party, he was expelled from the party after he signed a letter in support of UKIP. He then sat as an independent Conservative in the House of Lords until he joined UKIP in 2012.

His presence at meeting days is irregular.

Honors

In 1991 he became a Fellow of Sidney Sussex College. Since 1993, Stevens was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the Southern Cross.

In 1998, he was the patron ( patron ) of RCS.
