David Trefgarne, 2nd Baron Trefgarne

David Garro Trefgarne, 2nd Baron Trefgarne, of Cleddau in the County of Pembroke PC ( born March 31, 1941) is a British politician of the Conservative Party, which is since 1962 member of the House of Lords and since the entry into force of the House of Lords Act 1999 on the 92 hereditary peers ( hereditary peer ) belongs.

Life

David Garro Trefgarne, who graduated from the Haileybury and Imperial Service College, was after the death of his father George Trefgarne, 1st Baron Trefgarne September 27, 1960 at the age of 19 years whose legacy as Baron Trefgarne. However, because of the then majority age of 21, he could take his seat in the House of Lords until 1962. While his father was a member of the Labour Party, he represents since the Conservative Party in the House of Lords.

During his many years of membership in the upper house he was initially 1977-1979 Whip of the opposition conservative Tory faction, before 1979 the Government Whip fraction was following the election of Margaret Thatcher in the general election on May 3.

Following Lord Trefgarne held various junior ministerial posts in the Thatcher government and was initially 1980-1981 Parliamentary Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce and then to 1982 in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Ministry of Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of Nations. After he was 1982-1983 Parliamentary Under- Secretary, Ministry of Health and Social Security, he served until 1985 as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Armed Forces.

Subsequently, Lord Trefgarne 1985 Minister of State for Defence Support and thereafter from 1986 to 1989 Minister of State for the procurement of arms, before he was last in government Thatcher to 1990, Minister of State for Commerce in the Commerce and Industry Ministry. After retiring from the government in 1990 he was a member of the Privy Council.

Lord Trefgarne, who was from 1997 to 2000 Treasurer of the Association of Conservative Peers, since the entry into force of the House of Lords Act 1999 is one of the Upper House members, chosen from among the hereditary peers ( Hereditary peers) as their representatives as members of the upper house were. Between 2000 and 2004 he was chairman of the Association of Conservative Peers ( Association of Conservative Peers ).

He is also governor for life of the Haileybury and Imperial Science College and President of the British Association of Aviation Consultants.
