According to the census of 2000, there were 6235 people, 2061 households, and 1690 families residing in the city. The population density is 1130.2 persons per km ². 61.54 % of the population are White, 9.90% African American, 0.22 % Native American, 25.04 % Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 1.30 % from other races, and 1.96% mixed race. 5.15% are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 2061 households 52.7 % have children under 18 years. 68.9 % are married couples living together, 10.4% are single mothers, 18.0% are non-families, 14.3% consist of all households and 3.3% in people older than 65, the average household size is 3, 03, the average family size is 3.36.
