South Brunswick Township is a township in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. In the 2010 census 43 417 inhabitants were registered.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 106.4 km ², of which 105.8 km ² land and 0.6 km ² (0.58 %) water.
Several settlements within South Brunswick are conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau as a census-designated place. These are Heathcote, Kendall Park, Kingston and Monmouth Junction.
Policy
Since 1998, the mayor and his deputies is determined by direct election by the people. First directly elected mayor was Debra Johnson, following her 2002 Frank Gambatese (both Democratic Party).
Demography
According to the census of 2000, there are 37,734 people, 13,428 households, and 10,084 families residing in the city. The population density is 356.6 inhabitants per km ². 70.49 % of the population are White, 7.88% African American, 0.13 % Native American, 18.04 % Asian, 0.04 % Pacific Islander, 1.37 % from other races, and 2.04% mixed race. 5.08% are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 13,428 households 43.0 % have children under 18 years. 63.8 % are married couples living together, 8.6% are single mothers, 24.9% are non-families, 19.6 % consists of single-person households and 4.3% in people older than 65, the average household size is 2, 80, the average family size is 3.27.
28.4 % of the population are under 18 years old, 5.7 % from 18 to 24, 36.7 % from 25 to 44, 21.8 % between 45 and 64, 7.3% older than 65 is the average age 35 years old. The ratio of women to men is 100:94,0, for people older than 18 years, the ratio 100:91,3.
The median household income is $ 78,737, and the median income for a family $ 86,891. Males have a median income of $ 61,637, women $ 41,554.
