After 2006, the lease of the De Appel was not renewed for the former building in the Nieuwe Spiegelstraat 10 and moving plans were dashed in the ROC - building in the Westerstraat, De Appel found a new home in a former school in the former working-class district de Pijp south of Amsterdam Old Town. The new building in the Eerste Jacob van Campenstraat 59 was inaugurated in February 2010 with the first exhibition. It was built in the late 19th century as a primary school for boys and is therefore called de Appel Jongensschool.
