Dead Brain Cells or often simply D.B.C. is a Canadian thrash metal band from Montreal, which was founded in 1985.

History

The band was formed in 1985 under the name Final Chapter of the guitarist Eddie Shahini and Gerry Ouellette gegründe after they had heard Slayer 's debut album Show No Mercy. Together they began writing pieces. In 1986, singer Dave came Javex and drummer Jeff St. Louis to the band. Bassist Phil Dakin completed the occupation of a short time later. On February 4, the band had their first rehearsal in which they finished four songs featured. Javex changed the name of the band around in Dead Brain Cells. It was followed by several further samples until Javex left the band. He was replaced briefly by Cory Lowe. As this also left the band, bassist Phil Dakin also took over the post of the singer. The first appearance was followed on 24 May. This manager Norman Pichette was aware of the band. This was followed by the recording of a demo and three other appearances. A short time later, an appearance along with Slayer. This Combat Records became aware of the band. The label gained some copy of the already recorded demos by Dakin's girlfriend. The band reached a contract for six albums.

In 1987, work on the debut album began. The band went from 16 March to 4 April to Victor Studio. The album was produced by Randy Burns, which is also the second Megadeth album Peace Sells ... But Who's Buying? produced. The band released the album in the same year. In 1988 followed local appearances in Montreal, Quebec and Toronto. The band also worked on a second album. The band recorded a second demo in June 1988. Later in the year the band entered the studio with producer Garth pace Richardson The second album called Universe was published in 1989. In the summer, from 29 July to 17 August, the first tour was followed by the United States. They played together, among others, with the Bad Brains. In the same year her first appearance on the music channel Musique Plus took place. The band also created her first music video for the song Genesis explosion.

From 5 January to 27 January 1990, the second tour followed by the USA, where she has performed together with Lääz Rockit. In the summer of the same year followed by the recording of the third demo for the third album. Another demo this was incorporated in the year 1991. Due to differences with her ​​label, the band had, however, in the same year to dispose of this. The search for a new label was inconclusive, so that the band is still dissolved in the same year, making the third album remained unreleased. In 1993, Phil Dakin moved to Toronto, while Eddie and Shahini & Jeff St. Louis further wrote new music. Gerry Ouellette came now and then to this. On November 12, 1994 died Gerry Ouellette.

In March 2002, the two demos were available as a third album on CD. These were previously only a limited edition of 100 copies version available on cassette. In addition, Eddie Shahini, Phil Dakin, and Jeff St. Louis played together again. In 2003, the band officially joined back together and played a concert with Daniel Mongrain ( Martyr ) as a guitarist. In 2005 came the re-releases of Universe and Dead Brain Cells. On December 10, an appearance at the Montreal Metal Massacre Festival followed along with Lying Truth, aggression, Exciter, Anvil, Piledriver, and Razor. Jay Quinn also became the new guitarist of the band. In subsequent years, the band held further appearances. In 2009, drummer Jeff St. Louis left the band and was replaced by Graham Ferguson.
