Declan Lang

Declan Ronan Lang ( born April 15, 1950 in Cowes, Isle of Wight ) is Roman Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Clifton in England.

Life

The son of a doctor studied Catholic theology in goods and history in London. On June 7, 1975 Declan Ronan Lang received the sacrament of Holy Orders, and then worked for four years as vicar and chaplain in Portsmouth.

From 1979 to 1983 he was the personal secretary to the Bishop of Portsmouth. During this time he took the same tasks in the Youth Commission of the diocese and supervised several pilgrimages to the French pilgrimage town of Lourdes. In 1983, coordinated long the organization and development of church adult education in the Diocese of Portsmouth, 1990, he was appointed to the administration of the diocese and was responsible for the interests of the cathedral. He was transferred as one of the vicars general of the diocese to Abingdon in 1996.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 27 February 2001 as Bishop of Clifton. The bishop ordained long on 28 March 2001 by his predecessor, Bishop Mervyn Alban Alexander.
