Dedo I of Wettin

Dedo I, Count of Wettin (* 960, † November 13, 1009 ) was a son of Dietrich from the Saxon noble family of Wettin. His brother was Count Friedrich von hurry castle.

Life

The young Dedo spent his childhood with his relative, Marquis Rikdag, Lord of the Mark Meissen, Zeitz Mark and Mark Merseburg, and was thus closely related to one of the most influential men of East Saxony. Married with Dedo was Thietburga, the daughter of Margrave Dietrich of Haldensleben, Lord of the Nordmark, which he had taken to wife before 985.

In the years 974-985 Dedo I was in the rebellion of the Bavarian Duke Henry of Bavaria against Emperor Otto II, and later to his son Otto III. involved, which the Bavarian Duke finally subjugated in Frankfurt in June 985.
