Deer Park is a city in Harris County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The city is located in the southeastern corner of the county, in southeast Texas, about 40 km from the Gulf to the east is about 120 miles from Louisiana, in the southeast of Mexico and has a total area of 26.8 km ² without significant water surface.

History

The town was founded in 1893 as a custodian of the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railway and in the same year, the first post office was established. In 1896, the settlement of 40 inhabitants, a hotel and a general store. 1946, after the opening of a production plant for trinitrotoluene, better known as TNT, the place began to grow in 1950, 736 inhabitants, and 4865 persons in 1960.

Of the 9,615 households, 43.6 % had children under the age of 18 living with them. 66.8 % were married couples living together. 11.5% were single mothers and 17.4 % were non-families. 14.0 % of all households were single-person households and 4.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.93 and the average family size was 3.23 persons to.

29.0% of the population were under 18 years old, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 30.3% 25-44, 23.9 % from 45 to 64, and 7.4 % who were 65 years or older. The average age was 35 years. For every 100 females of all ages were 98.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, 96.2 males.
