Degerfors

Degerfor is a Swedish village ( tätort ) in the east of Värmland. It is the capital of the municipality of the same name.

Industry

Degerfor has an iron factory. The work had to contend with competition from the Far East. It is now owned by the Finnish company Outokumpu Kumpu successfully as highly specialized work. The place has as many smaller towns in Sweden to struggle with high unemployment. The population is declining ( -258 persons from 2005 to 2010 ) and unemployment is high ( about 10 %).

Leisure

The town has a football club, Degerfors IF, which began its career under Ralf Edström other and Gunnar Nordahl. The team plays in the 2013 season in the second-rate Swedish Superettan. In Degerfor is the only football museum in Sweden.

People

Degerfor is the birthplace of Nils Landgren ( born 1956 ), a Swedish trombonist and singer. Landgren is a successful European jazz musicians.

Twin Cities

One of the twin cities of Degerfor is the community Oedheim in Baden -Württemberg.
