Della Torre

The Torriani ( Thurn, della Torre, da Torre ) was an Italian patrician family. In the 14th century they ruled Milan and Lombardy and are considered the leader of the Guelphs loyal to the Pope. They came from the Valsassina in the present province of Lecco. The noble families of Thurn and Taxis Thurn and Valsassina and invoke the Torriani as ancestors.

The Torriani took in the history of Milan as bitter rivals of the Visconti a protruding role. (See main article History of Milan )
