Delos Thurber

Delos Thurber ( Delos Packard Thurber, born November 23, 1916 in Los Angeles, † May 12, 1987 in San Diego ) was an American high jumper.

At the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936, he jumped 2.00 m. Since only his compatriot Cornelius Johnson had mastered 2.03 m, it came between Thurber, the American Dave Albritton and the Finn Kalevi Kotkas to a tie-break, in which Albritton silver and bronze Thurber guaranteed.

Delos Thurber graduated from the University of Southern California and after the Second World War airplane pilot in the Philippines.
