The Demänovská Cave Sloboda ( German: Demänovska called freedom cave, also Demänovska stalactite cave ) is a show cave on the territory of the Slovak Village Demänovská Dolina in the Low Tatras. Location

The Demänovská Cave Sloboda is located on the northern slopes of the Low Tatras National Park of. Formation and discovery

Attractions and characteristics

In the cave, particularly many stalactite formations are encountered. In addition to the conditions prevailing in other caves, white stalactites and stalagmites with yellow, pink or red coloring can be found in the Demänovska stalactite cave. All stalactites are still growing, which is a rarity. The cave is very rich in sinter formations; unique here are the sinter water lilies. Furthermore, there sinter curtains and very diverse stalactites and stalagmites. A part of the cave was named after the dóm Slovak folk hero Jánošík as Jánošíkov. Fauna

In earlier times, the cave was inhabited by animals. This is testified skeletal remains of cave bears (Ursus spelaeus ) in Medvedia chodba ( Bears gear). Today, four species of bats live in the cave, among them the greater mouse- eared bat (Myotis myotis ) and the lesser horseshoe bat ( Rhinolophus hipposideros ).
