The creek in the mire Demnitztal

The Demnitz winds through the Demnitztal in the Natural Park Schlaubetal. At 87.55 ha nature reserve Upper Demnitztal, a partially dammed up and vermoortes Fließtal found in 1981 on the edge of Schlaubetals. The name refers to the ancient Slavic TIME or timêno, the swamp, mud or feces means. In Russian, found тимение = swamp, in the Czech tymenec = Swamp source. The name changed over Temnitz over time to Demnitz.

Formation

The landscape was created in the Weichsel glaciation. This created the meltwater systems of Schlaube, Dorche, Ölse and Demnitz.

Course

Nature

The Ledo - Sphagnetum houses spiders like the Gera Ndete hunting spider, Tapinocyboides pygmaeus and Taranucnus setosus. In the mires formed from marsh tea - peat moss, there are also bugs like Gerris lateralis. Stocks of water springs can be found here also.
