Democratic Political Turning Point

Democratisch Politiek Keerpunt ( DPK ) is a Dutch political party. It was created in June 2012 as a fusion of Trots op Nederland (TON ) and the Onafhankelijke Burger Partij (OBP ). Hero Brinkman represented the party temporarily in Parliament and was their top candidate for the Dutch parliamentary elections in 2012, but where they could not win a seat. Currently, the party has forty council seats that had been won in 2010 by TON, also members of the city government in Den Helder and Alkmaar.

Brinkman was until March 2012 Group Member of Partij voor de Vrijheid. A falling out with Geert Wilders brought him to quit the group. Brinkman wanted for a long time to democratize the PVV and spoke out against certain public campaigns of the PVV. Brinkman describes his new party as " quite liberal " in the sense of Pim Fortuyn.
