Denis Podalydès

Denis Podalydès ( born April 22, 1963 in Versailles, France ) is a French actor, writer and theater director.

Life

Denis Podalydès was born the son of a pharmacist and an English teacher. He is of Greek descent. His older brother is the writer and filmmaker Bruno Podalydès. At the Lycée Fénelon, he studied philosophy and literature. There he met the later film director Emmanuel Bourdieu know who persuaded him to study with him at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique. There he studied from 1984, among others, Philippe Uchan, Michel Bouquet and Jean -Pierre Miquel.

During the French 2012 presidential election Podalydès supported the Socialist challenger Francois Hollande.
