Sayid Atalik - Madrasa

Denov (Russian Денау / Denau ) is a city in Uzbekistan, in the province of Surxondaryo. Denov is an independent city and also the capital of the eponymous district Denov.

Geography

Denov is located in the south of the country, near the border with Tajikistan, about 140 kilometers north of Termez, on the highway M 41 to Dushanbe. The town lies in the valley of Surxondaryo.

Denov has a population of 97 196 (2010).

Population Development

History

Centuries ago there was a fort on the site of the present city. Later, the place got the name of Denau Beg, the Emir of Bukhara. Denov in 1958 the town rights.

Economy

The cotton processing, the food industry (especially butter ) and brick kilns are the most important economic sectors in the city. Agriculture, especially the cultivation of cotton and wine play an important role. In a nursery on the outskirts there are over 1000 different trees, flowers, herbs and other plants from around the world to see.

Culture

Worth seeing is the coming of the 16th century Sayid Atalik - Madrasa.
