Denys Coop

Denys N. Coop ( born July 20, 1920 in Reading, † August 16 1981 in London ) was an English cinematographer.

Life

Coop worked as an assistant cameraman and cinematographer on numerous, sometimes very successful films such as The Third Man with until it was first used in 1960 as acting chief cameraman. His camera style corresponded to the strong documentary -oriented Free Cinema, which developed in these years. Coop was responsible for the camera work of several films of John Schlesinger and Lindsay Anderson. Later he photographed among others, Horror Movies by Roy Ward Baker. For those working on the visual effects of Superman Coop was awarded in 1979 along with other leaders with the honorary Oscar
