Deresse Mekonnen

Deresse Mekonnen (born 20 October 1987) is an Ethiopian athlete who was 2008 World Indoor champion in the 1500 meter race.

Mekonnen was fifth in the 2007 Africa Games. At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, he left in the flow.

The World Indoor Championships were held in 2008 in Valencia. There Mekonnen won before the Kenyan Daniel Komen Kipchirchir, behind Juan Carlos Higuero won the sprint for third place against Arturo Casado. After the race was displayed to the cheers of the Spanish audience that Komen won before Higuero and Casado and Mekonnen was disqualified for entering the interior border. The disqualification but was withdrawn, Mekonnen received gold, silver and Komen Higuero bronze. At the Olympic Games in 2008 Mekonnen difference seventh of the second semi-final of in 3:37,85 min.

Deresse Mekonnen has a competition weight of 60 kg at a height of 1.75 m.
