2008 IAAF World Indoor Championships
The 12th IAAF World Indoor Athletics Championships were held from 7 to 9 March 2008 in the Spanish city of Valencia at the Palau Velódromo Luis Puig instead. The 6500 -seat sports complex has hosted the European Indoor Championships in 1998.
Valencia was commissioned by the World Association of Athletics Federations to organize the event in November 2005. The contract was awarded by the Spanish port city almost exactly a year after the exclusion of the application of the city in the awarding of the World Championships 2009.
It was attended by 147 nations and 574 athletes. The DLV team consisted of six athletes and 10 athletes

First Deresse Mekonnen and the fifth-placed New Zealander Nick Willis were disqualified for entering the interior border. Both athletes put protest against this decision, but only that of the Ethiopian was granted.

The top two Russians Jelena Sobolewa (which crossed the finish line in world record time ) and Yulia Fomenko were disqualified after it was proven to them that they had submitted in 2007 manipulated doping tests in the spring. The original incoming seventh place Frenchwoman Bouchra Ghezielle was disqualifiert for doping.
