Bryan Clay

Bryan Ezra Tsumoru Clay ( born January 3, 1980 in Austin, Texas) is an American decathlete.

With five years Clay moved from Texas to Hawaii. He attended James B. Castle High School and then the Azusa Pacific College. Initial successes celebrated Clay 1999, when he won the title at the respective U.S. Junior Championships and the Pan American Junior Games. 2001 in Edmonton and 2003 in Paris / Saint- Denis Clay participated in the World Championships, but did not finish the competition.

At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens he won behind the Czech Roman Šebrle the silver medal and set with 8820 points, a personal best. The following year he won the title at the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005 and settled with 8732 points Šebrle by more than 200 points behind. Clay won two silver medals in the heptathlon at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest in 2004 and 2006 in Moscow. 2004 won and 2006 won Šebrle André Niklaus.

2006 Clay won the all-around Mösle meeting in Götzis. At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, he was forced to retire due to an injury to competition after four disciplines. 2008 Clay won the decathlon at the Summer Olympics gold.

Clay is 1,80 m tall and weighs 84 kg. He is a relatively balanced all-rounder in the first nine disciplines, but falls in the 1500 -meter run against most other ten fighters from clear. In the discus throw Clay holds with 55,87 m (2005 in Carson ) set a world record for decathlon in competitions over 7000 points.
