Destination Gotland

Destination Gotland is a Swedish shipping company and wholly owned subsidiary of Rederi AB Gotland. It operates ferry services from the mainland to the Swedish island of Gotland.

From summer 2007 until mid-2009, the transport company operating between Gotland and Öland Island, a ferry service. The fleet currently consists of four ferries. Destination Gotland transported to and from the island of Gotland, more than 1.4 million passengers and transported 640,000 lane meters of cargo per year. During the peak summer season there are up to 16 departures per day between the Swedish mainland and the island of Gotland.

History

The Destination Gotland was founded in 1998 as a subsidiary of Rederi AB Gotland and took the ferry with some lines between Gotland and the Swedish mainland. Originally 75 % stake in the company of Rederi Ab Gotland were held and 25 % were owned by Silja Line. 1999 sold the Silja Line its shares in the Company to the Rederi AB Gotland, which has since become the sole owner. At the same time introduced Destination Gotland to the ticket and booking system for so-called Bookit system that is compatible with other booking systems in the Scandinavian Fährbereich. Between 2007 and 2009 a line between Visby and Grankullavik was operated on Öland, but reinstated after it came on 23 July 2009 to a general average after a collision of two ships in Nynäshamn and then it was a lack of appropriate ships. In the accident about 1300 passengers on board the Gotland, of which thirteen people had to be injured were taken to hospital From 1997 to 2003 drove the Thjelvar for Destination Gotland. The ship was chartered to Color Line in 2003, but was returned in 2007.
