The Normandy was a ferry that ran last for Irish Ferries.

History

The ship was of Rederi AB Gothenburg - Frederikshavn Linjen ordered at the shipyard Götaverken Arendal in Gothenburg. The new building was originally to be delivered in 1981, the work on the ship but were slowed by the acquisition of ordering by the shipping company Stena Line. After the launch on 22 May 1981, the work continued to completion until the end of the same year. In December, the completed vessel under the name GM 909 was first launched at the shipyard in Arendal and from 1982 in Gothenburg. On 3 May 1982, the Stena Line Sessan in Gothenburg took over the ship, and finally on June 3, 1982, started operating between Göteborg and Frederikshavn. On February 28, 1983 Sealink chartered the ship for three years. In June of the same year the ship was sold and renamed St. Nicholas. As of June 10, 1983 it went to the English Channel between Harwich and Hoek van Holland.

In January 1997 Tallink chartered the ship and renamed it in Normandy. On 24 March, the ship sailed under the flag of Estonia between Tallinn and Helsinki. The charter was terminated on 30 December 1997. The ship was now under the flag of the Bahamas, home port was Nassau. From January 1998 Irish Ferries chartered the ship, which then on February 19 began operating between Pembroke Dock and Rosslare. On 1 April 1998, the ship sailed on the route Cork - Rosslare and Roscoff - Cherbourg. As of 1999, the ship sailed under the flag of Bermuda, Hamilton was home port. On 10 November 1999 Irish Ferries bought the ship.

On 4 November 2007, the ship arrived in Rosslare for the last time. On 5 November 2007 it was transferred to Fredericia. On 28 January 2008 it was sold to Equinox Offshore Accommodation Ltd in Singapore. In March 2008 Ferrimaroc chartered the ship, and from April to September 2008, traveled between Almeira and Nador. On 19 October 2008, the ship arrived back in Singapore.

On September 11, 2012, the ship was sold for scrap to India. On November 30, 2012, arrived in Alang an abort.

Sister ship is built as Kronprinsessan Victoria Stena Europe.
