Irish Ferries

Irish Ferries is a shipping company from Ireland, based in Dublin, the ferry services between Ireland and Wales ( UK), and operates between Ireland and France. Actually, it is at the shipping company to the Irish Continental Group plc, but is the name of Irish Ferries ferry companies as much more common. The shipping company is currently based on the vehicle capacity holder of the world's largest car ferry, Ulysses.

History

The company was founded as a joint venture between the Irish Shipping Limited, founded in 1974, Fearnley & Eger and Swedish company Lion Ferry A / B. Originally known as Irish Continental Line on the route from Rosslare in Ireland to Le Havre in France with the ferry St. Patrick and St. Killian plying, Irish Shipping Limited in 1984 fell into liquidation. It was sold to the Irish Continental Line and got its present name. In 1992, Irish Ferries, the British and Irish Steam Packet Company Limited ( B & I Line ) and therefore the ferry service between Dublin and Holyhead in Wales took over.

In January 2007, Irish Ferries announced the acquisition of Crown Prince Harald ferry for the Ireland -France- traffic. The ferry operated until September 2007 for the Norwegian shipping company Color Line the route Kiel - Oslo. Since late 2007, she now serves as the successor of Normandy under the name Oscar Wilde Roads Rosslare (Ireland) - Roscoff / Cherbourg ( France).
