Detmold Open-air Museum

The LWL-Open- Air Museum Detmold ( to 2006 Westphalian Open-Air Museum Detmold ) is located in the town of Lippe Detmold in North Rhine -Westphalia. Body of the museum is the Regional Association of Westphalia -Lippe ( LWL). Opened in 1971 open-air museum is subtitled Westphalian State Museum of Folklore and is one of the most important of its kind in Europe, with 90 hectares of land and more than 100 historic buildings claims to be the largest in Germany.

Description

A special feature of the museum since 1985, a focus in the field of landscape ecology and shows the transformation of the historic cultural landscape and old animal breeds and plant species. Before the disappearance could therefore already be preserved old Westphalian pet breeds such as the lip goose and the Bentheim landscapes; Senner also horses are bred at the museum since 2001.

History

On July 22, 1960, the Regional Association of Westphalia -Lippe decided to establish a " Westphalian Open Air Museum Bäuerlicher cultural monuments " in Detmold to represent the change of peasant life in the years 1550 until 1800. Six years later, in May 1966, work began, and the July 7, 1971 the museum was opened. It included then the following buildings: Osnabrück Wiehengebirgshof ( eight buildings, time represented: 1800 ), Minden yard ( six buildings, 1800 ), Double Heuerhaus ( 1800-1830 ), Tecklenburger Kötter House ( 1800-1860 ), Munsterlander Gräftenhof ( eight buildings to 1800).

The first addition to the building stock of 1973 " Lippe Grange " was completed with six buildings. 1974 the museum got the title of " State Museum of Folklore ," and in the development plan for 1975, the limit of the representation of the Peasant life in the museum in 1550 was changed to 1800 to 1550 until 1900. 1976, the "West Munsterlander Hof" with nine buildings from the period was completed in 1790 and 1860. The "Paderborn village" around 1900 was inaugurated on 13 July 1981, ten of the seventy planned building. Two years later the Westhellweghof from Dortmund - Brackel (1793) was inaugurated. On 12 June 1991, the Ganzteiltranslozierung of day laborers home from Rösebeck to Detmold took place. In 1992, the collection commissioned by the museum was expanded to the present day. The " Sauerland village" (1918-1930) was inaugurated in 1997. 2000 exhibition " Rooms worlds " to document the everyday living of the present was performed. In 2007, the "House Uhlmann" from Ovenhausen and opened in 2010, "House Schwengersbauer " from Rheda with the historic " photo studio Kuper " in 1891 from Rietberg. Since July 2013, the 1960s will be presented at the museum, because since then is a gas station from Siegen - Niederschelden in to see " Siegerländer hamlet ".
