Deuce (Rory Gallagher album)

Occupation

Deuce is the second solo album by Rory Gallagher and appeared on 28 November 1971 by Atlantic Records.

Recording

Unlike his first album, which should sound more precise and organized, Rory Gallagher chose the successor for a different approach. The album should capture the raw energy of a live performance. To achieve this goal, some pictures were taken right before or after concerts and kept the production minimalist.

Remaster

1997 Deuce was remastered by Colin Fairly. He used Tony Arnold 's Courthouse Facilities in Dorset. The published in 2000 Remaster contained the bonus track " Persuasion ".

Title list

Chart success

The album peaked in the UK album charts and number 39 was certified by the British Phonographic Association BPI in 2005 with a gold record.

Reception

Dave Thompson of Allmusic sees Deuce a blueprint for the 1972 and 1973 following pictures where Gallagher's reputation as a guitar virtuoso mainly based ( "the blue print for most of what he'd accomplish over the next two years of recording", "that peak would come falling on 1972-1973 with the albums upon which Gallagher's reputation is today most Comfortably set " ) .. the Music Express chose Gallagher 1971 for the debut album and Deuce for " most popular guitarists ".

The style of the guitarist Johnny Marr of The Smiths was influenced by Deuce:

" There was one day when i was playing alongwith the Deuce album Which was a complete turning point for me as a guitar player. "

"There was a day I nachspielte the album Deuce, which was the complete turning point for me as a guitarist. "
