The German School Book Prize is awarded at irregular intervals since 1990 Award for textbooks, " give the students reverence for God, charity, tolerance and dialogue on the basis of its own high ethical Christian belief. "
The decision on the auszuzeichnenden books hits the board of trustees German School Book Prize, which is organized in the association learning for the German and European Policy ( LDEZ ). Founders of this association is a retired secondary school teacher tungsten Elling House ( born 1930 ), current chairman of the Catholic philosophy professor Walter Schweidler (* 1957). The award consists of a certificate and 2,500 euros and has been awarded since 1991, each in a ceremony in Bielefeld (1990 at the Frankfurt Book Fair).
The term " school book price " does not mean that it is approved books for the classroom. The -giving club stated, "The inclusion in a national learning resources directory is not required for the German School Book Prize, because we also want to make new books known by our award."
The German School Book Prize is seen as the attempt of a Christian- conservative values -driven organization, to draw attention to their worldview.
