History

After the commercial success of the album The Boss, Diana Ross wanted a fresher, more modern disco sound for their next album. Fits the verge wrote Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers of Chic some songs for Aretha Franklin, who rejected these and so Ross took to the songs.

What initially proved to be a grueling cooperation that ran in length, was completed despite quarrels. Previously, Ross wanted to give up everything because of the trouble.

Before the release, the entire album was worked up new: the funky elements of Chic in the album were a bit weakened, the instrumental passages were shortened and the vocals missed you a brighter, youthful sound. The work was carried out without the knowledge of the producers. Later, the duo sued the label Motown without success, due to copyright infringement.

Diana Ross was at that time the time being the last album that was released by Motown and let the album so far selling over six million copies.
