Diane Baker

Diane Baker ( born February 25, 1938 in Hollywood, California) is an American actress.

Life

Diane Baker grew up in Hollywood. At the age of 18 she moved to New York, where she studied ballet with Nina Fonaroff and acting with Charles Conrad. Later she attended the Estelle Harman Workshop in Los Angeles.

Baker made ​​her debut in the film drama The Diary of Anne Frank from the year 1959. In 1960 she was nominated in the category Best Young Actress for the Golden Globe Award. For her role in the thriller The Price (1963 ) in which she appeared opposite Paul Newman and Elke Sommer, she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award again in 1964. For her role in the television drama Inherit the Wind (1965 ) she was nominated for an Emmy in 1966. For his role in the mini television series Life's Bitter Sweet (1985), in 1985 she was again nominated for an Emmy Award. In the thriller The Silence of the Lambs (1991 ) she played the U.S. Senator Ruth Martin, whose daughter Catherine Martin, Clarice Starling ( Jodie Foster) is saved.
