Diane Kurys

Diane Kurys (born 3 December 1948 in Lyon) is a French filmmaker and actress.

Life

Diane Kurys was born in 1948 as a child of Russian-Jewish immigrants in Lyon. Her parents divorced when Kurys was 6 years old. She moved with her mother and sister to Paris, where she attended a high school. After graduation Kurys began a stage career and played among others in the Compagnie Renaud- Barrault. In 1971 she made her first film as an actress. My own first film, The small central Paris ( Original title: Diabolo Menthe, 1977), treated her childhood as a child of divorced parents and of the relationship with her sister. Many of their films deal with autobiographical themes, often the parent-child relationship or the lives of children in difficult family relationships plays a role. My latest film is a biography of Françoise Sagan.

Kurys is married to filmmaker Alexandre Arcady, their son is the writer Sacha Sperling.
