Berghaus Diavolezza

The Diavolezza (Romansh: Devil ) is a mountain and ski area in the municipal area of Pontresina in Graubünden in southeast Switzerland. It has a height of 2978 m and is located southeast of Munt Pers ( 3207 m).

The mountain is accessible all year round by a cable car from the Val Bernina oberengadinischen ago. At the valley station of the cable car at 2093 meters is the stop Diavolezza Bernina Bernina railway from St. Moritz to Tirano. At the top station there is a restaurant with bar and panoramic terrace.

Name

The name comes from a legend Diavolezza:

Diavolezza ski resort

The Diavolezza is one of the three major ski areas in the Upper Engadine. The Diavolezza is connected via the " connecting slope " with the Lagalb. Especially popular is the 10 km long descent over the Pers and Morteratschgletscher up to the terrace of the restaurant Morteratsch at the stop of the Rhaetian Railway.

A special feature is the nocturnal valley run without floodlights that only occur at full moon ( Romansh: " Glüna Plaina " ) is open because the lighting conditions then suffice for safe skiing; maximum of five such appointments are in the year.

Slopes

Firn (No. 1)

The top, red marked piste on the Diavolezza called firn, because it leads through the Diavolezzafirn. It starts at the cable car station and ends at the valley station of the " glacier chairlift " Diavolezza.

Diavolezza (No. 2)

The red dirt road that leads from the valley station of the glacier chairlift to the bottom station of the cable car, named Diavolezza. You bifurcates twice, once as a feeder to the black piste "Black Hang" and another time just before the downhill, from there you can go to the "Connection slope".

Black slope (No. 3)

The "Black Hang" called so because the black marked runway crosses a steep terrain, the rock is black. The "Black Hang" is one of the two black runs on the Diavolezza.

Ravulaunas (No. 4)

The track " Ravulaunas " is the continuation of the "black slope ". She is the second black marked piste Diavolezza. It runs from the point at which the slope " Black Hang" in the main runway " Diavolezza " leads to the east, crossing the " connecting slope " and ends at the valley station of the cable car. The name " Ravulaunas " is a field name.

The red slope " Sass Queder " bears the name of the homonymous mountain, on whose slopes they leads from the mountain to the valley station of the " glacier chairlift ". It exists since 2009, but it was often used earlier than deep snow variant. First, it was marked as blue run, then it was marked red and meanwhile her name was renamed in " Firn ", so that it is impossible to find under its old name today.

Chapütschöl (No. 11)

The " Chapütschölpiste " (read: Tschapütschöl ) was considered a sister of the glacier run, because it was not prepared. The only difference from the glacier run is that they are not led by a glacier. The " Chapütschöl " led from the start of the "black slope " to the valley station of the Diavolezza. It was the last time you traveled in March 2010, since then is closed due to avalanche danger. Your name they had of the eponymous mountain in the Diavolezza. On newer Trail Map Diavolezza it is impossible to find.

Giandas (No. 21)

The track " Giandas " (Romansh: Suspension ) is the first slope on the Lagalb. It counts as all other slopes Lagalb also, for the Diavolezza. This red marked track leads from the mountain to the valley station of the Lagalbbahn.

Minor (No. 22)

The track " Minor" has its name from the valley that leads from the valley Lagalb to the north, the Val Minor. She is the only black marked piste Lagalb (as of 2013). It begins after the second curve the slope Giandas and also leads to the valley station.

Bernina ( No. 23)

The track " Bernina " takes its name from the eponymous pass, which can be seen well from it. She is the second red marked piste Lagalb. On this slope, there are often rocks, so you should drive slowly. The Bernina piste starts after the first corner of the runway Giandas and also ends in it.

Moguls (No. 24)

The moguls was the only official moguls in the Engadine, which was also highlighted. She was the second black marked piste Lagalb, but was closed in 2009. Also, they can no longer be found on the new runway plans. She started on the north side of the second cable car pillar and ended in the slopes Minor.

Connecting slope (No. 25)

The red " connecting slope " was first only accessible from the runway " Ravulaunas " and was marked in black. Since 2009, the link road is accessible from the main red slope. This road leads from a branch of the runway " Diavolezza " to the valley station of the Lagalbbahn, but you have to get there, use a pony lift, as the route goes a little uphill.

Glacier run (No. 31)

The glacier run is a marked but not groomed slopes leading from the Diavolezza to the hotel Morteratsch at the same station. Joining is described as very difficult. This is followed by a longer ride on the Pers Glacier to its end, the so-called " Sagl dal Vadret pers " (Romansh: Leap of Persgletschers ). The drive through the " Sagl dal Vadret pers " is also difficult then again followed by a longer trip across the Morteratschgletscher and by " Val Morteratsch ". After about an hour you can reach the station Morteratsch. Sooner the descent on the Isla Persa was performed, which is no longer possible under the due glacier retreat.
