DICE Summit

The D.I.C.E. Summit ( acronym for Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain ) is an annual conference for leading heads of the computer game industry in Las Vegas. It was introduced in 2002 by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences and is among other things also the host of the DICE awards the industry organization, the Entertainment Software Association (from 1998 to 2012 referred to as Interactive Achievement Awards).

Description

The conference different from other conferences by its focus on business and production aspects, with a focus on trends and innovations in the field of game design. The conference is intended to be more intimate, more systematic gathering place for industry leaders to network with each other. After the event at the beginning traditionally began with a relaxation phase before the opening of the presentations and discussions, it is introduced with a keynote since 2007.

The first keynote was held by Yair Landau, vice chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment and president of Sony Pictures Digital. Since then followed:

  • 2008: Gore Verbinski, director of the film series Pirates of the Caribbean
  • 2010: Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard
  • 2011: Mike Morhaime, president and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment
  • 2012: Todd Howard, Game Director and Executive Producer of Bethesda Game Studios
