Die Streuner

The strays are outstanding since about 1995 medieval band from Bonn, which occurs at medieval markets, castle feasts and jousting.

Music style

The quintet plays mainly medieval tavern music. Among other things, they are Medieval Spectaculum and the cold Ritterturnier represented at the festival regularly. The repertoire ranges from songs spanning six centuries about medieval Sauf and Rauf music, old folk tunes ( in arrangements similar Zupfgeigenhansel ), drinking and Pfaff songs to original compositions. The lyrics of their songs are mostly German, some pieces are in French or English. Text referred by some famous authors, including Friedrich Schiller, François Villon, Erich Kästner, Fritz Grasshoff, Heinrich Heine, Clemens Brentano and Wilhelm Busch. The package usually comes from the stray dogs even if they musically inferior texts that do not spring to their spring.

First came Miriam Petzold and Roland Kempen under the name The strays together in 1994 at Castle Satzvey on. After that was completed by Martin Seifert, later Carsten Hickstein and finally Matthew Rouse the group to a quintet.

All recordings were released under the label Emmuty Records. The producer is Roland Kempen. Since 2009, the strays have an official fan club, the savage fellows.

Malleus

The twelve-man Malleus is a co- project of the strays and the medieval band A La Via and interprets medieval melodies new, by bagpipes, violins and harp with drums, bass, keyboards and electric guitars are added.
