18 de Julio is a city in southeastern Uruguay.

Geography

It is located on the territory of the Department of Rocha in the sector 5 near the border to Brazil. In each several kilometers away lie east Chuy and to the northwest San Luis al Medio. To the south runs in the Sierra de San Miguel Arroyo San Miguel.

History

Formerly known as San Miguel, 18 de Julio was officially called " Pueblo " declared by Act No. 3495 on July 12, 1909. Then took place on June 20, 1961 by Law Nr.12.876 classification in the category " Villa ".

Population

18 de Julio 2011 had 977 inhabitants, of which 482 male and 495 female in the census year.
