Dieksee

The Dieksee is a lake in the Holstein Switzerland. It is 386 hectares in size, has a maximum length of about 3.4 km and a maximum width of 1.6 km.

The lake is up to 38 m deep and is located about 22 m above sea level. NN, flows through it from east to west of the Schwentine. About this waterway it is connected with the other lakes in the Lakeland Holstein ( Small and Large Eutiner lake Kellersee, the Great and the Small Lake Plön and the Ukleisee ).

Like the rest of the Holstein Switzerland has emerged over the last ice age and the Dieksee. Dead ice has preserved the valley formed after the melting of the lake has formed.

The use of the lake by boat is permitted, excursion boats (5 Lakes cruise ) connect the larger towns in the Holstein Lake District, in the places Malente- Gremsmuehlen, Niederkleveez and Timmdorf landing on Dieksee are available. The lake is to walk around on a circular route of about 14 kilometers on foot or by bike. From Holzberg tower you have a good overview of the Dieksee, the islands in the lake Long Warder and Gremswarder and the other lakes in the region.
