Dikta

Dicta is an indie rock band from Iceland. The band has released four albums (as of 2013).

History

The band is in its current formation since 1999 - all the band members have been friends since childhood. In 2000 they reached the Icelandic band competition Músíktilraunir the final. In recent years, the band had appearances at festivals such as In The City in Manchester, the SPOT Festival in Denmark and the popular Icelandic Musikfestical Iceland Airwaves, which earned them a mention in Rolling Stone Magazine.

Diktas first album Andartak which completely still recorded the band in Icelandic, was released in late 2002 and released by the band in Iceland under its own label mistak Records. One of the singles reached number one in the Icelandic charts. All three singles reached a high airplay on Iceland 's biggest rock radio station X -id 977

Dicta released their second album Hunting for Happiness in 2005 in Iceland. It was produced by Ace ( Skunk Anansie ) and published on Bad Taste. For the album artwork Gabríela Friðriksdóttir responsible, who worked already for Björk. It was the first album with complete English lyrics and was also in Denmark (2006 ) and Great Britain (2007) published.

In 2009, the band released their third album out under the name of Get It Together. The international release was on March 25, 2011. The plate was successful in Iceland and brought winning the title of " Most popular band" at the Icelandic Music Award on March 13, 2010.

In 2012, the band participated in a project that is related to the drafting of the new constitution of Iceland.

Although they are very popular in their homeland, the band members go full-time employment after.
