Dimitrios Kiousopoulos

Dimitrios Kiousopoulos (Greek: Δημήτριος Κιουσόπουλος ) (* 1892 in Andritsaina ( Elis ), † 20 January 1977 in Athens ) was a Greek politician and former Prime Minister.

Studies and career as a lawyer

Kiousopoulos graduated in law at the University of Athens. In 1917, he began his career as an assessor and eventually rose in 1939 the prosecutor of the Supreme Court ( Areopagus ) on. During the Nuremberg Trials for war crimes of the Third Reich in 1945, he was appointed Deputy Prosecutor Representative of Greece. From 1950 to 1961 he was finally working as a Public Prosecutor at the Supreme Court.

Political career

After the election of 9 September 1951, he was for a short time until November 1, 1951 Minister of the Interior in the third cabinet of Sophoklis Venizelos.

As the successor of Nikolaos Plastiras he was on October 11, 1952 Prime Minister of the transitional government. As such, he was primarily responsible for the preparation of the elections to the National Assembly ( Vouli ton Ellinon ) of 16 November, which brought Field Marshal Alexandros Papagos to power. These he handed over on 19 November 1952, the Prime Minister's Office.
