Dino Risi

Dino Risi ( born December 23, 1916 in Milan, † June 7, 2008 in Rome ) was an Italian film director and screenwriter.

Risk is considered to be one of the old master of commedia all'italiana. He worked with great actors - including Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni - and gave them numerous opportunities for iconic performances. A special recognition learned Scent of a Woman with Vittorio Gassman ( U.S. later remake with the same title Scent of a Woman ).

Life

Dino Risi met Alberto Lattuada 1940, who offered him a position as an assistant director in the film Piccolo mondo antico. Then Risi was a psychiatrist and wrote newspaper articles. After the war he began making short films and to act as a director in Rome later.

Dino Risi was living in a suite of a well-known Roman hotels, since he had left his wife Claudia. He published his autobiography in 2004 under the name I miei mostri. His son Marco Risi is also a director. His two brothers Fernando Risi, a cameraman, and Nelo Risi, as director and screenwriter working in the film industry.

Awards

Risi's film grandmother Sabella won in 1957 at the International Film Festival of San Sebastian, the Golden Shell. The very successful film Love in sharp curves obtained at the 1963 Mar del Plata Film Festival in Argentina the prize for Best Director. At the International Film Festival in Venice in 2002 he was awarded an honorary Lion for lifetime achievement.
