Diocese of Luleå

The Diocese of Luleå ( Luleå Swedish pin ) is one of the thirteen dioceses within the Church of Sweden. It consists of 64 parishes ( församlingar ), which are combined into eight church districts.

Geographically extends the diocese over the provinces of Västerbotten County and Norrbotten County and thus more than one third of the Swedish territory. Thus it is by area the largest diocese in the country. It was not until 1904 formed by separation of the northern part of the diocese Härnösand. Bishop's seat is the city with the Luleå Luleå Cathedral as Bishop Church. Since 2002, Hans Stiglund Bishop of Luleå.
