Diocese of VÃ¤sterÃ¥s

The Diocese of Västerås (Swedish Västerås pin ) is one of the thirteen dioceses within the Church of Sweden. It consists of nine church circles, which in turn consist of 77 parishes ( församlingar ).

First records of 1164 mention the diocese. Geographically extends the diocese over the provinces of Dalarna, Västmanland County and the northern parts of the province Örebro County. It is according to area the third largest diocese in Sweden. Bishop's seat is the city of Västerås Cathedral Västerås as the bishop's church. Since 2008, Thomas Söderberg Bishop of Västerås.
